Google’s AI chatbot, Bard, has received a significant upgrade with the integration of Gemini, Google’s latest and most advanced AI model[1]. This upgrade is expected to significantly enhance Bard’s capabilities, providing it with more advanced reasoning, planning, understanding, and other capabilities[1].

Gemini is a next-generation, multimodal AI model that can process text, images, and audio[6]. The rollout of Gemini to Bard will take place in two phases. Initially, Bard will be upgraded with a specifically tuned version of Gemini Pro. Next year, Google plans to introduce Bard Advanced, which will be powered by Gemini Ultra, the most powerful version of the model[1].

The integration of Gemini Pro into Bard will initially be available in English in more than 170 countries and territories worldwide, with plans to expand to more languages and countries in the future[1][3]. The Gemini Pro version of Bard will initially power text-based prompts, but it is expected to expand to multimodal support, meaning it will be able to process texts and images or other modalities, in the coming months[1].

This upgrade follows a series of improvements to Bard since its debut eight months ago. These improvements include the ability to answer questions about YouTube videos, access users’ Google apps like Gmail, Docs, Drive…
