yesterday I woke up early by accident
here’s how it made my day awesome
Tuesday night, as per usual, I didn’t get around to sleeping until after midnight. When you spend all day with a toddler, that tends to be the sacrifice you make to complete the daily to-dos.
I woke up at 4:30 AM, quite unintentionally.
I assumed I could go back to sleep, but sleep alluded me. I didn’t feel overly tired, so I finally got up around 5:30 and decided, what the heck — why not get my stuff posted to Medium while I’ve got some time to myself?
So I did that, and then I worked on a shipment and some bookkeeping for my business. I made my family breakfast from scratch while they were still asleep, and even cleared off the dining room table so we weren’t eating in front of the TV.
Friends, I had my entire to-do list done by early afternoon. While my daughter napped, I was able to relax and focus on “daily” items that sometimes get pushed aside. I did about an hour of coding, something I’ve let slide for weeks. I wrote over 500 words of my novel. I read a book in leisure and exercised and actually interacted on a few facebook groups and finished the laundry. I made dinner and got to bed early, all with a fairly clean house.
Miraculous.
Did I manage to get up early today? Nope. I’m still a work-in-progress.
But I’m converted now to this magical solution of waking up early. I’m a believer. You better bet it’s going on my list of goals.
Maybe you’ll accidentally try it for yourself someday. Then you’ll become a convert too!
