Mahabharata’s Kunti was given a boon (by Rishi Durvasa) of getting children by invoking the Devas. At 13, she invoked Surya, got pregnant and gave birth to Karna. Fearing outrage and backlash from society over her premarital pregnancy, Kunti choose to abandon the newly born Karna adrift in a basket on the Ganges.

Pregnancy among unmarried is a highly sensitive issue. Unmarried adolescent pregnancy in India is a major health and social problem. They either seek unsafe abortion or abandon the new-born or die in shame. Their position is worse than Mahabharata’s Kunti.

Hence, the need for ‘Mother Kunti Assurance Policy’. This policy while indemnifying the hospital expenses either for safe abortion or safety of new-born and mother, attempts to give a new lease of life to the unmarried adolescent through its privacy. This is the actual meaning of the phrase “Zindagi ke Saath Bhi”. This is the demand of 21st century insurance.
