There certainly is a lot to discuss in this matter. At the very least, a discussion is important versus not having a discussion at all.
There are plenty of laws and regulations that guide other technology areas such as computer security, computer networks, bio-technology, chemicals, nuclear material, genetic engineering etc. By contrast, I don’t recall any law or regulation that relates to ‘artificial intelligence’ based technologies.
I agree that it seems too early, however perhaps we shouldn’t wait until it is too late!
