Imam Mosque, Isfahan, Iran
An example of a masterpiece of art and architecture, Imam mosque (also called Shah mosque, or Jaame Abbasi mosque) is located in the southern side of the Nagshe-Jahan square. It was built more than 400 years ago in the Safavid era of Iran. This mosque is registered in UNESCO as a world heritage site. It is famous for its calligraphy and colorful mosaic tiles and carpentry. The curved ceilings with hand painted tiles is something to remember. Everything feels alive, as if the artists of the time left part of their soul there. If you visit Naghshe-Jahan squre, don’t forget to go and see this beautiful mosque.
