I understand life keeping you on your toes. Congrats to your parents on their 50th!! WOW, that’s just awesome.
I appreciate your response. I have never contacted anyone before regarding an article that spoke to me, so getting your response was a surprise.
For the last 21years I have worked in this field and for most of it, I have been accepted for my knowledge and abilities. Since changing jobs 2 years ago, I have noticed that with a bigger company, it’s more of a “boys club” here. I have also become more hypersensitive about it. I don’t know if it’s my work environment or if I, myself, am just more mindful about the way women are treated in general, but I do feel like a 2nd class citizen at times. I am a happy go lucky kind of person so I try to not let it get to me, but I would like to educate these “ol’ boys” about how to work with and accept a female. I unfortunately lost who I thought was the biggest female supporter, my direct boss, to retirement. I am now trying to feel out my new manager. I will gingerly find out where I, we, stand with him.
I will keep your email to maybe come back later with more questions.
Thanks Gretchen and have a great day! :)
