This is a great piece. Thank you Seth. As a Marketing Professor at a Traditional University teaching marketing and internet marketing I can identify with much of what you say.

The challenge for many of us is how to engage students who are simply there for a piece of paper. Students that simply fill seats.

The reality is that most students are not in University to learn and only learn. They are there because their friends are / parents told them / it is the way to get a “good” job / to socialize / to play sports / to go to school while working full time, etc.. etc..

My approach has always been, however, that if my students DO THE WORK (individual and group) and make a good faith effort to learn… they will get an A.
