I am a tight tangle of nerves loosely assembled in human form. I am edgy and jagged. My heart races at nothing.

There is so very little I can control.

We’d warned my mom that yesterday we had to go to the dentist, my dad’s and my appointments together because of the distance. I have a permanent retainer that came loose; my dentist was going to fix that too.
