We should be able to handle the majority of interactions with our local government without physically being there. The technology already exists.
When I first signed onto banking services with USAA, I was excited to see that everything could be done online and over the phone. There was no reason to have physical locations because all transactions could be processed through their website or with an agent over the phone.
We should be able to go to SanDiego.gov and handle everything, and we should readily be able to speak to an agent over teleconference that can either solve our problem immediately or transfer/redirect us to the correct person via teleconference.
This is pretty self-explanatory and obvious.
We’re in the 21st century. We need to modernize our local government.
