A lesson from The Matrix

The Matrix is a great movie. First time I watched it, it was all about the action. Neo had great moves, he was fast. It was the era when we were so crazy about kung-fu movies. I decided to watch it again a few days so I could really get what it is all about.
The was a world had been overtaken by AI. It was just like a dream and the rabbit hole was the real world. People living in the Matrix were slaves according to Morpheus. It was when I realised AI was central to the movie, that I took a moment to pause the movie then asked myself, why I expected to understand the movie at a time when I probably was not able to operate a computer. The lessons had begun, I needed to take my pen and write some notes down.
What I learnt from this was as stated by Stephen Covey, “be patient with yourself. Self-growth is tender, it’s holy ground….”. You can’t understand everything the first time. You have to be patient with yourself, give yourself time to learn. Putting so much pressure on yourself can be counter-productive. It’s an expectation of perfection which can hinder progress as you start on something. Take small steps, these will combine to be a major leap.
During my primary school years, we used to say, if at first you don’t succeed try, try again. You would when you have failed to come up withthe right anser to a question. In whatever you do if you can’t get it right the first time, there’s always a time to get it right. Stay focused and continue learning.
