The War That Proved To The Arab World That Israel Is Here To Stay

Most of us have heard about the Six Day War. If you haven’t, it’s time to brush up!

In May of 1967, Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser started amassing his troops along Israel’s border, expelled the UNEF force from Gaza and Sinai and took up UNEF positions at Sharm el-Sheikh, overlooking the Straits of Tiran. As a response, Israel led a defensive war to protect itself from the massing armies. Despite the combined armies of Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon, Israel not only survived the war but also reclaimed the Old City of Jerusalem!

This in and of itself is an amazing feat, although perhaps more surprising is that the Israeli army (100,000 troops deployed) was able to defend itself against the Arab armies, at a whopping 240,000 troops! This battle is full of miracles — just check out this video!
