1. Time and Day of the Week

Studies conducted by Sprout Social and Buffer have shown that the best times to post content for brands are mornings and evenings. The best days are Mondays and Thursdays*. Brands who posted between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm and again between 5:00 pm and 10:00 pm where found to have seen on average an increase in engagement of 10–20% over other days.

*Note that some are saying Wednesdays are the optimal time. I suggest you experiment with different days and see what works best for your brand.

2. Location Location Location

Are you tagging locations in your posts? If you aren’t you might want to get started. Recent analysis of over 75 million posts from 1,260 brands found that, on average, tagging locations saw an increase in engagement of 79%!

3. Did You Mention?

People love to feel special. They relish attention. It’s no surprise then that brands who actively use @mentions in their captions saw engagement increase by 59% on average over those without. It’s important to not abuse this feature as Instagram has a pretty strict policy on spamming @mentions.
