It wasn’t Rubio’s fault that he couldn’t live up to the crazy hype, but I dunno how you could call him anything other than a disappointment in Minnesota. Not that he is a bad player, but we were promised the moon when he was drafted. Also, as the article notes, the Wolves were fooking terrible for most of his time in Minnesota. That falls on a lot of people, but Rubio was supposed to be the vanguard of the post-Garnett era, and he just wasn’t good enough. I won’t claim to be an expert on Jeff Teague’s game, but unless he is completely useless it’ll be a push at worst, maybe even a solid upgrade. At least Ricky will be comfortable in his new surroundings. He’s going from a homogeneous protestant city to a homogeneous Mormon city, neither of which could draw a free agent even if they were the last two teams in the league.
