DRAW THE CITY AS A CATALOG OF ARCHITECTURAL MONSTER

I studied John Hejduk’s work “Draw the city as a Catalog of Architectural Monsters”. In his work, he creatively uses some elements of people, or the other natural materials and makes people feel weird even feels like monster, Hejduk give these architectures life, emotion and power. But in his design, he didn’t outline many details that makes when we looking at his work we can imagine, but by consider the design materials he put in to his work, it’s like a frame, it will not limit ours imagine, it guide us to his design original intention.

John,Hejduk’s work

In my work, I choose Sydney Tower as my first architecture, the shape of Sydney Tower like UFO been hold in the air, and becomes view point and the highest building in Sydney. And the second architecture I was chosen is Sydney opera house, when I take the front elevation of Sydney opera house, I think the rooftop curve in the middle like the parent covering their children, the parallelogram in the middle like people’s nose and the door under it like people’s tooth. I think this building include monster feeling and also put emotion to the building.
