As an immigrant to this country, I am convinced that our country’s brightest days are ahead of us. As bad as things may seem given the toxic political discourse, I know this place is, and will remain special.

This one election will not change this. The only way that our country will fundamentally change is if we allow apathy to win. But if we summon the will to see our democracy not for what is, but for what it can be, the next chapter of this grand experiment in self-government will live on for generations.

Thankful for thoughtful leaders like Sen. Sasse that have the honesty to say that they don’t have all the answers. We need more of this.
