Ask questions

You want a good new years resolution? Here’s one. When someone is trying to tell you a story, maybe something they are proud of or a holiday they have planned, get them to tell you more about it.

Don’t do, “Oh, you just bought your tickets to Italy in June? Awesome. I toured Europe last month and it was amazing. I saw x, y and z. You should totally do that. The weather isn’t great in June, but you’ll still enjoy it.”

Asking endearing questions when people are trying to tell you their successes is going to get you further in life than trying to be the centre of attention and the know-it-all.
