That’s a fairly large dose of clarity on a few things. Realizing, perhaps, that as an academic, I’m part of the problem. Personally, I’ve heard a lot of rumbling from various quarters (mostly conservative, of course), about changing that X function. Not in my best interest, perhaps, but I do wonder if more ought to be done to disconnect University education with the shift to the right side of the graph. Of course, the more you disconnect the economic connection, the more you emphasize the social one. Interesting way to think about things.
