“Scars of War”
Each day I wage war on many fronts.
These wars are brutal and unforgiving
Yet like a dying soldier whose wife is waiting- I never give in.
The scars I bear are clearly present,
Not physical demarcations
But scars unseen;
They are the seams which hold my wounds together.
Although representing my resilience and valor;
They are still a painful reminder of the shells that fell upon me.
Everyday I wage war on many fronts.
I’m a soldier whose true home will never see,
But I will always continue
and savour the memory
Of my dear wife at home waiting on me.
