Why is it Important to Embrace Video in Your Marketing?
Videos have been a powerful form of marketing for some time, but with the development of better mobile technology and the continuing influence of social media, video marketing has become even more important for every company’s marketing campaign. Not only is video content growing, but it will continue to grow and expand throughout 2017 and in the future. Here’s a closer look at why we here at JGA Recruitment believe you need to start embracing video as a part of your marketing campaign.
Stats Supporting Video Marketing
If you’re wondering why you need to start using video as a part of your marketing efforts, simply take a look at the stats surrounding video and video marketing. About one-third of the time spent online today is spent watching videos. Out of all the mobile video consumers, 92% of them share the videos they see with friends, family, and co-workers. According to YouTube, video consumption on mobile devices continues to rise by 100% each year. Each month, average consumers see more than 32 videos, and ¾ of people who view videos online have interacted with video ads online in the past month. The stats back it up — video is a stronghold that’s going to continue to grow in the future, making it a valuable marketing tool.
The Combination of Video and Social Marketing
In the past, the online video simply meant heading to YouTube or a similar site like Vimeo to watch videos. However, while those sites continue to grow, there’s far more to online video today. Within the past few years, video content has started to go social, especially as more websites have begun to see the tremendous potential in hosting videos on those social platforms. Within the past year, daily video views on Facebook have gone through the roof, recently reaching 8 billion video views each day. Snapchat has grown even more, with more than 10 billion videos being viewed daily on that social site.
You already know how important social marketing is to your marketing efforts, and now social marketing and video marketing is crossing over. Video is now considered a social tool, and learning to use the two marketing efforts together is essential if you’re going to keep up with current marketing trends.
Video Marketing Trends
If you begin to embrace video as a part of your marketing campaign, what should you expect in the future? These are the anticipated video marketing trends that I believe you will want to keep in mind as you create videos that get your marketing message across to your audience.
1. Trend #1 — Watching Videos on Multiple Devices and Platforms — Recent reports show that a huge percentage of adults are using multiple devices at once, and many YouTube users watch television and stream YouTube videos on another screen at the same time. This trend is expected to increase, which means marketers shouldn’t rely on a single video platform to effectively reach your target audience. Focus on distributing video marketing content across multiple social platforms.
2. Trend #2 — Use of 360-Degree Video — Users are more likely to view 360-degree videos than the same video that doesn’t come in a 360-degree format. While this format isn’t suitable for every video, 360-degree videos are excellent for product videos. Approximately 90% of consumers say that they find product videos helpful when they decide to make a purchase.
3. Trend #3 — Audience Engagement Increases on YouTube — People are dropping everything to watch YouTube videos, and YouTube audience participation is at an all-time high. As you’re planning your video marketing strategy, it’s a good idea to include YouTube in that strategy. YouTube is a top video source for both teens and adults, so you can’t afford to leave YouTube out when planning your video marketing campaign.
4. Trend #4 — Video Meets Email Marketing — Using video as a part of your email marketing campaign can boost results. In fact, video links and embedded videos can increase the open rates and click-through rates of your emails. Audiences appreciate getting video in emails because it’s compelling, concise, and convenient for them to view.
5. Trend #5 — Storytelling Through Videos — Storytelling has always been an integral part of marketing, and it’s been a part of human communication for thousands of years. Using videos to tell stories is a powerful marketing tool, since it motivates your audience, builds excitement, and helps you to nurture relationships. When done correctly, videos that use stories can share relatable information that offers a memorable experience while evoking emotion in your audience.
If you’re serious about getting marketing results, you need to incorporate video into your marketing campaigns. Your competition is probably already using video in some way, and if you’re going to stay relevant with your audience, you need to make use of video too.
