Former Cowboys receiver Lucky Whitehead is not so lucky.
The Dallas Cowboys decided to part ways with wide receiver, Lucky Whitehead.

It has been an interesting past couple of weeks for now former Cowboys wide receiver, Lucky Whitehead. Buried behind all of the off the field incidents that the Cowboys have dealt with this month, Whitehead had problems of his own that traveled back to late June.
The 25-year-old athlete was allegedly arrested on June 22nd in Virginia for shoplifting at a convenience store. The news never came out until July 24th, when Lucky missed his court date for the incident. So did the Cowboys do another cover up job and save another one of their players from their legal troubles? Actually, they didn't. Lucky, was in fact, not the guy who shoplifted from a Virginia convenience store. The real culprit apparently used Lucky’s government name to give to the police. So everything is cleared up and cool right? Not even close.
Unlucky Whitehead…
Before any word got out that the whole incident didn't actually involve Whitehead, the Cowboys jumped to the same conclusions that NFL fans did. They wasted no time and decided to terminate his contract and send him on his way to free agency.
The bad luck doesn't end there though. Remember last week when Lucky Whitehead tweeted out that his dog was missing? We eventually found out that his dog was being held for ransom from a local rapper. Yes, his dog was stolen by someone who was demanding for money to give it back.
I am not sure why or how his dog was stolen exactly, but he was demanded to pay $20k for it back. Sure, for an NFL player that should be chump change but it isn't right for that to happen in the first place. The good news is that he did get the dog back, but I sure hope he didn't cough up that 20k to do so.
Pretty bad timing to get cut from your team with everything else going on. Once the news came out that Lucky was actually totally innocent, the Cowboys staff tried to cover them selves up and relate the release to “multiple” events from the past.
Apparently, Whitehead is not much of meetings guy. But if I am recalling correctly, neither are a few of the other players on the team. Star wide receiver, Dez Bryant has been accused of being late and or missing over 40 meetings over his past few seasons in the NFL. Not to mention skipping out on an MRI which eventually lead to a fine.
So why is Whitehead the unlucky one who gets cut? The man was innocent and did nothing wrong this off season. Looks like Lucky Whitehead is just not so lucky this time around. No word on whether teams are taking a look at him or not, but his receiving stats sure wont help his case.
