I cant stand Conor McGregor and I don't know why.

On Tuesday, Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor finally went face-to-face for the first time.

For the past year or so, the name Conor McGregor has blown up. Not just in the UFC where he has been dominating, but even outside of the fighting world people know who Conor McGregor is. I wont sit here and act like I am a huge UFC fan, but I have ordered fights before and also went out to bars just to watch them. In the wintertime of last year is when I ordered the first Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz fight. While everybody around me was cheering heavily for McGregor, I couldn't help but wish he got knocked the fu*k out.

Fortunately for me, he ended up losing that fight. He then went on to win two matches following that, including the rematch with Diaz. Since that fight against Diaz, I haven't been able to warm up to the thought of liking Conor McGregor.

So I asked around…

Pretty much all of my social media friends who watch UFC are huge McGregor fans. I always look to see what they are saying about him. They love that he is a ‘badass’, and says whatever he wants, and backs up his smack talking, blah blah blah. But what I started to notice was that these same people who love McGregor, hate Floyd Mayweather.

Ill be honest, I was not Mayweather’s biggest fan during his legendary stint. Mainly because I thought he was too cocky and too arrogant, sort of like how I feel towards McGregor. But I started to like Mayweather when I understood he was a total different breed in boxing. This guy wasn't knocking people out like Mike Tyson, but his defense was on a whole other level. Everything that Mayweather did was so quick and smooth and it was clear that the guy just simply mastered his craft of being one of the greatest fighters of all time.

Cocky is annoying

The main thing that I realized was that Mayweather was pretty humble despite being very cocky. Yes, he threw money in your face like it was nothing, he also used disrespectful tactics to get into his opponents head before the match. But when the fight was done, he always seemed to credit his opponent no matter what. I liked that about Floyd.

As far as McGregor goes, he doesn't seem to humble himself at all. His cockiness is tiring to me. Confidence is one thing, but McGregor is overly-confident in my eyes. People eat that up because he is a ‘bad ass’. He can be a bad ass, but he isn't untouchable. Its rare that McGregor loses, but when he does, I hear nothing but excuses.

Watching this videos as a McGregor fan would probably get you pumped up. While I watch it I just see someone who is thinking way over their head. Notice how Floyd sits calmly while McGregor talks about knocking him out. It just reminds me of the famous saying, “The loudest guy in the room is the weakest”. I firmly believe in that saying in this case. This is a whole new world for Conor. He is out of his element and I don't think he understands that. While I respect McGregor for his come up, I just simply cannot be a fan of his.
