LeBron James is really good friends with Ben Simmons and Philly should love it.
According to Twitter interactions, Ben Simmons and LeBron James have become good friends.

We are now a couple weeks into the NBA Summer League and fans are already losing their minds over the Sixers upcoming season. Everybody was on cloud nine when the Sixers traded up to the number one overall spot to get Washington’s Markelle Fultz.
While there have been big stories revolving around Fultz’s injury and the Sixers signing J.J. Redick, the biggest story comes from the most ridiculous and unreliable source on the internet, Twitter. Now there are some very credible and valuable accounts on Twitter that serve nothing but #RealNews, but for the most part you have to keep expectations in check when you hear about rumors.
Whats the word?
In case you haven't heard, LeBron James is currently unhappy with his situation in Cleveland (shocker). Ever since his return he has had problems with the front office and has disliked how they handled things in the past two years. In fact, they fired their general manager, David Griffin last month. Since the firing, the Cavaliers have pretty much sat still during free agency.
Now this is where everybody loses their mind. Could LeBron’s days as a Cavalier officially be coming to a close? As he enters into his final year of his contract, rumors are heating up that the Lakers and the Rockets will make a strong push for the king. One specific thing has basketball fans speculating that he may have a different destination after 2018 though. Philadelphia could be a potential landing spot for Mr. James.
Now I am definitely not the first one to discover this, but LeBron James and Ben Simmons seemed to have become sort of close over the past year. Although there is an 11 year age difference between the two, LeBron seems to have adapted into a big brother role for Simmons, despite them being on two different teams in the same conference.
Could it happen?
Obviously the Sixers have money. They haven't made any signings that were too big over the last few seasons due to the tanking process (shout out to Sam Hinkie). Also, if LeBron is able to form a genuine chemistry with Simmons, then why wouldn't he want to take the trip to Philly? It is a slim chance, but it is not out of the question that LeBron comes to play for the Sixers next season.
Joel Embiid shoot his shot back in 2014 when he was drafted to the franchise. He sent a Tweet out to LeBron proposing the idea of him joining the process. LeBron seemed unfazed by that Tweet since he seemed to be happy with his situation in his hometown. Fast forward a few years later, and Ben Simmons became his buddy.

Back in 2016 when Simmons was the number one prospect, he had multiple workouts with LeBron even though the Cavaliers would never land him. The King said that he was a mentor to Simmons. He made it really clear that he saw what the hype was about and understood that Simmons was worthy of being the number one pick.

Fast forward a year later and the two are still on very good terms. So good in fact that they were kickin’ it in Las Vegas at the Sixers vs Lakers Summer League game last week. But it wasn't just pleasure, it was about business as well. James and Simmons made sure they hit the court again together while they were out there.
The rumors have indeed started floating around and they don't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. A couple nights back, Simmons sent a simple Tweet with the eyeballs looking emoji to LeBron that he later deleted and Sixers Twitter went off. LeBron then heated things back up last night when he wished Simmons a happy 21'st birthday.
Spiked Shirley Temple’s with a potential teammate in the future sounds like a great idea. Hopefully Simmons takes his buddy Joel Embiid with him and they discuss business for after this season. Although there is still ways to go before 2018 free agency, LeBron and Simmons have made this off season very interesting. LeBron James a future Sixer? Stay tuned…
