IMAGINE THE DAY WHEN OUR GOVERNMENT, NO LONGER HELD HOSTAGE BY THE INFLUENCE OF MONEY & THE FEW WHO WEILD IT, EMULATES A TRUE “BENEVOLENT DICTATORSHIP”
An Opinion 🤔 by @JJManring
NOTE The intent of this is to motivate the electorate to stay the course for the long haul, because if anyone thinks there’s a magic pill to cure our political ills, sadly, they are deceiving themselves.
In theory, once money is removed from the political process, the government which is left should be beholden to 100% of the population rather than 1%er puppet masters who currently fund campaigns and dictate laws.
Note the word “dictate.” Those satisfied with the status quo (Trickle-Down Economics, et al) — more likely Republicans (Conservatives) than Democrats (Liberals) — will not find this word, or how it is used, offensive. If they did, they would join the correct-thinking among the 99% and demand change in how our government works, or better, doesn’t work.
It is interesting to note — at least in theory — the form of government that benefits the entirety of the population is termed a “benevolent dictatorship.” Since our Constitution designated three branches of government, an actual “dictatorship” would never come to pass. However, if our government is to function for 100% of the people 100% of the time, it would need to emulate the benevolent dictatorship model.
Which of these two words the reader focuses on tells us a lot about the mindset of that reader. Conservatives almost certainly would pounce on the word “dictator,” understanding it to be the mortal enemy of the “freedom” they interpret the Constitution to bestow. However a Liberal would almost certainly focus on the word “benevolent,” comprehending it to mean that the “governor” (“government”) would be kind, thoughtful when considering the needs of, and interacting with, the governed.
As stated earlier, the Republican, the Conservative, seemingly has no problem with the money of the 1% dictating laws and policies. Like the proverb about the frog who will sit in a beaker of slowing heating water until he’s cooked, if those who support the status quo objected, they’d get the hell out of the beaker!
But therein lies the rub: more of the 99% need to wake-up and smell our decaying democracy as it rots around us. Only when more of the electorate demands and votes for candidates who are willing to make government OF, BY, and FOR all of the people — only then — will slow but steady (pragmatic) progress be achieved. And only then will government be benevolent for all rather dictated by the monied few.
THE THEORY OF TRICKLE-DOWN ECONOMICS (And the sad, sad “fact” that so many still believe it will e-v-e-n-t-u-a-l-l-y work…😢)
