Let’s pretend your house is on fire. Someone comes running up to you and says, “You know what you should do to help? You should add more fire.”
Actually, the NRA would advise to have several fire extinguishers and an emergency plan in place. You and your ilk, however, would be tweeting about how racist and sexist the fire was being.
Let’s consult the post-shooting script from the firearms lobby’s legion of talking heads: “We have a gun problem in schools. Let’s add more guns. Let’s arm teachers.”
Is there a gun problem in schools? Given the rarity of school shootings I’d say there wasn’t. Also, most schools have these cutesy little signs posted around them:

Huh, so you’re saying these signs are bullshit? Well, the NRA and gun owners have been telling you that for decades.
Teachers are overworked and underpaid. It’s not a good idea to give someone like that a deadly weapon. Add to an impossible workload training in firearm safety, maintenance, and marksmanship.
Not hardly, most are paid well enough and then there’s that whole summer break thing. If you think basic, fundamental firearms training is somehow “impossible”, I’d suggest you speak to any number of instructors and find out for yourself. I know folks like you aren’t terribly bright but I’m sure even you could figure out the most of the simply safety rules printed in the first few pages of any owner’s manual provided with the purchase of any new firearm. Your lips might have to move while reading them of course but you’ll get them down in no time.
I have a better idea. Let’s accept the NRA’s fake concern for safety. Let’s have a truly effective solution that keeps people from harm: Don’t arm teachers. Give students armor. The best offense is a good defense, right?
Yeah, great idea. Kids aren’t already breaking their backs hauling text books as it is, lets add a 10lb plate carrier and 40lbs of ballistic plates to their toil. Love to see the LWNJ gun-control loons pony up the costs for the kids’ knee and back surgeries though. Nah, let’s just do what the NRA suggests and give teachers the option to keep a small firearm on their person. Less weight and, since CCW is about DEFENSIVE gun use, still fits in with that last sentence.
They are the same bunch that tells me to stop picking on guns because you can kill with rocks. They arrive at that conclusion this way: you can kill with a gun and with a rock, therefore those two objects are 100% equal in every way, therefore it’s unfair to legislate guns since we don’t legislate rocks.
I’m quite sure you pulled this out of your rather ignorant and hyperbolic ass, like the vast majority of dumb things gun-control advocates say, but let’s take you at your word here just for the giggles since we know you have about as much of an understanding about firearms as you do about rocks. Unless those are the same rocks taking up a significant volume of the space between your ears. No, no…you still wouldn’t understand.
That’s what makes me more believable than the gun cult and its one-size-fits-all solution to everything: MORE GUNS!
Except that whole pesky fact (that comes from FBI-published data one the NICS and UCR) that while firearms sales to civilians have gone up by only 300% since 1999, firearms-related homicides have dropped by about 30% or so in that same period of time. Can’t really argue that more guns CAUSED the decline in firearms-related homicides, but it’s really hard to say (and call yourself an honest and intelligent human being) that more guns are causing more homicides…because they aren’t.
