Thank you, MoveOn for illustrating why campaign finance reform is so desperately needed and why money must be taken out of politics if we want public servants who are willing to think for themselves and stand up for what they believe.

Senator Schumer has taken a position and given detailed reasons for why he has taken that position. Rather than voice disagreement in the spirit that reasonable people can differ, MoveOn moves into instant, knee-jerk attack mode, without seriously addressing the Senator’s points. MoveOn’s insta-threats are the actions of a bully and damage MoveOn’s own reputation.

Not only has MoveOn’s response now outed the organization as a singularly intolerant group which is unwilling to accept a diversity of opinions, but it has, as mentioned, provided a first-class example of just how dangerous the influence of money is within our political system.
