How A Deleted Tweet Cost Me Yeezys & A Chance of a Life Time

Dear Twitter,

On February 9, 2016, shortly after Kanye had tweeted the tweet below — I had replied to Kanye West’s tweet in regards to his album title, in hopes of winning the contest.

I had replied twice, with the response, The Life of Picasso and The Life of Pablo. A follower of mine, who goes by @ysabellesar, favorited my Life of Pablo tweet. I had followed up those tweets with a series of other titles that I than deleted, but it also deleted my “The life of Pablo” tweet.

Additionally, another follower of mine, Jonathan Woo, had also mentioned seeing my tweet.

Since discovering the correct album title, I have sent you, Twitter, an email to your customer support and have also tweeted at you directly from my personal Twitter.

Being a diehard fan of Kanye, this was a devastating disappointment when I discovered my tweet was deleted that would later be the correct answer. When I found out that 33 people guessed correctly and were rewarded, I was heartbroken. It was a crazy shortcoming, considering what had happened previous to this going down.

Almost 3 weeks ago, I had encountered a life changing experience that I heavily related to Kanye. I got in a major car accident heading from San Francisco to Los Angeles0 in which my car hit a ditch in the drizzling rain, spun off the side of road and 30 ft into a ravine. Sparing all the gruesome details, my two friends and I escaped alive…. My car got completed totaled but I was blessed to escape without any major injuries. I saw a direct parallel with Kanye West, whom survived a major car accident in his early career as well. (see Through The Wire, one of my favorite Kanye songs) I was proud that I survived — I told bragged I was on my “Kanye sh*t” and survived it. Not only that, but I was wearing my Yeezy 350 turtle doves in the accident. I have not worn them since. You can see below, the dirt and mud still stuck in my shoe from the night of the accident. I want to one day present it to Kanye and show him how I walked up 30 feet out of a ravine in his Yeezys and survived the biggest car accident in my life.

Fast forward to now — I CORRECTLY guessed/tweeted Kanye’s album title and did not get to be rewarded for it. As someone who has looked up to Kanye since his early days, I am heart broken. I knew his true connection and inspiration was always pointed towards Pablo Picasso. In his most recent song, No More Parties in LA, he raps, “I feel like Pablo when I’m workin’ on my shoes, i feel like Pablo when I see me on the news, I feel like Pablo when I’m workin on my house”, and that’s when it clicked to me that Pablo Picasso had to be the title. Beyond that, Kanye’s love for art and strong admiration for Pablo was always evident. I have his entire CD collection on my iTunes. As an avid sneaker head, I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS trying to get the latest Kanye shoe. The only Yeezy I owned, I wore in my car accident, and survived. So there HAS to be some sort of true connection between Kanye and I. But having the opportunity to get my idol’s sneaker and just barely missing the shot, is truly truly heartbreaking. Especially considering what I had JUST gone through in the weeks before.

So Twitter — I mercifully and kindly ask you to please recover my tweet so I may have proof for Kanye West, that I, JR Austria, deserve a pair of his Yeezys and hopefully a copy of The Life of Pablo. I am deflated at the fact that I missed the opportunity of a life time to see my hero, my idol, Kanye West, at Kanye West’s Season 3 debut at Madison Square Garden. So, please Twitter, if you could please do something for someone who grew up watching, wanting to be Mr. West, I would greatly greatly appreciate it.

Kind regards,

JR Austria
