The data (among many others: https://www.cato.org/human-freedom-index) show freedom is steady and more widespread than ever, and the American authoritarian can’t authoritate his own mind for a 24-hour period. Does inequality and excess in the neoliberal system need to be addressed? Does it cause people to do dumb shit like issue layers and layers of collateralized debt obligations, elect incompetent leaders, or leave the EU? Yes of course it does, but I think we can do without the panicking about the impending dictatorship.
