The Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia’s experience from 1945 to 1965 initially upon its establishment was heavily Communist according to strict ‘Stalinist’ principles. However, over time would transform into a less radical leftist experience, where a ‘Titoist’ socialist ideology, integrated both capitalist and communist economic principles, all the while ensuring political control in a single-party dictatorship. The impact of communism would overall positively influence the nation economically and beyond the incorporation of ‘ Titoism ’, it formed the basis for Yugoslavian culture and political structure. Economically and politically, after the split in 1948, the nation would embrace a ‘ Titoist ’ economic policy, abandoning Stalin’s ‘5 Year Plan’ and further taking on a new political stance of ‘Non-Alignment’. Yugoslavia’s transformation of society would integrate a socialist industry and Western ideals of capitalism in the form of ‘ Worker’s Councils ’ which would dictate the communist experience lived by the people.
