Michael Howard of urbanbubble
As part of the #BeYourPotential project , Jim Clarke, founder of YP Potential, interviewed Michael Howard the Founder and Managing Director of urbanbubble. Here is the breakdown of the interview:
Urbanbubble is a residential property management agent located in Manchester, which is passionate about providing good quality management of residential properties. They are award winning!

Michael's first job was working in a country styled butchers. He worked for a pound an hour. He got the job because he wanted a pair of red K-Swiss trainers, which he described in the interview as, “The most horrible trainers you have ever seen but back then they were great!” His Mum told him that if he wanted the trainers, he would have to get a job, which had Michael working as a cleaner in this butchers for 20 hours per week. He worked hard, and got his reward in the form of his trainers, the best way to do it!

Jim asked Michael about his advice for someone in education trying to make the right choice for after they have left school. He firstly reassured not to worry about it at first. It is really difficult to know exactly what you want to do at an early age, so go out and explore different opportunities, to discover what inspires you and what you enjoy. Michael founded urbanbubble when he was 30 years old, which just goes to show that you might not find what you want to do straight away and that it can take time.
Advice that Michael would give to someone trying to shine in their new job would be to firstly dress smartly and take care of your appearance as this can help you come across better. He also said to be confident and be yourself and exert your personality, as you can get so much more respect from your peers if you come across as genuine and fun.

To deal with challenges, Michael advised to talk to people about them. “There is nothing better than sitting down and sharing your problems with people that you trust.” There will always be people willing to help that have had a similar path and others that have time for you such as family, friends and colleagues. Challenges can therefore be tackled collectively rather than you being on your own.
The thing that motivates Michael is working hard and being happy. If you follow this advice you will do well in life.
Hopefully you enjoyed the read and got lot’s of advice! You can check out the video interview here:
