This is a great piece of writing: informative, relevant and optimistic. I believe regardless of where we come from or what our background is, we as a species love solving problems, especially when we can use our inherent logic, creativity and compassion. The big challenges you describe above are just some of the problems we as a people should and must undertake using our unique ability to cooperate, communicate and apply muscle. I would also add to this list some of the most challenging social problems we face which I don’t think can be resolved by automation or technology nor will they be alleviated anytime soon. These include abject poverty, mass incarceration, homelessness, loneliness and isolation not to mention the many forms of oppression and injustice. I firmly believe these will not be addressed without a kind word, a gentle touch or tough love from another fellow human being. I am certain resolving these numerous challenges are enough to sustain a very large labor market regardless of how many jobs are replaced by automation and technology.
