I’ve noticed this trend too — I get excited that I see other mixed race people getting roles (as I am mixed race myself), but I also wonder why they try to make people of color look like the ‘standard’ of white beauty. Straight hair, as you mentioned, is a great example.

It reminds me of a documentary I watched — ‘Good Hair’ — that talks about this issue. How women of color with darker skin are looked down upon, even in their own communities.
