It’s all downhill from here
Seven weeks down and six to go. So much left to do. I love the fact that we are more than half way through a really tough program. We made it this far and I haven’t lost my marbles. Only six weeks until I get to see my girls for more than a few days before heading back for another month away.
Also, only six weeks to also prove traction, develop relationships with investors, re-engineer the entire app, get my demo day pitch down and a myriad of other things. A bit torn here. I want it to speed up and slow down all at the same time. Make sense? I didn’t think so. ☺
Techstars’ motto is, “Do more, faster.”
That is exactly what needs to happen for Bawte. As I mentioned in a previous piece we have the great UX team at Slice of Lime doing user interviews and tabulating that data so that another great team, Creatix can drive through the UI design. I am putting a lot of pressure on David and his team to compress about 7 weeks of iOS, Android, and web UI design work into about 3 weeks. I am confident he can do it…right David?

Our development team is really cranking too. I have been really impressed by the work of Spencer, Thomas and John. They are really making tremendous progress on the infrastructure in order to make this new version a reality. I really wish Yas could have been part of this process. He has put some major hours in over the past 1.5 years and this would have been really cool for him. You see Yas has been working towards getting his residency for many years and hiring him would have messed up that process. I can say that as of today Yas has received his residency approval! Congrats Yas.
Over the next 6 weeks Yas will be essentially working 2.5 jobs. His current full-time job and ~12 hours at Bawte. It seems crazy, but Yas is a bit crazy. The guy can push his body to all hours of the morning. And the good news is that it really only has to be for the next 6 weeks or so.
I, myself, am constantly working on my pitch. I had no idea it was possible to re-work the same slide deck over and over and over and over and have it be so dramatically different, yet communicate very similar messages. All part of the process and something I would never have done independently. Once I get it nailed I think I am going need some help making the slides as engaging as the content. Open to help or suggestions. ;)
So there it is. We are on the downslope of this journey. It feels like it has gone really fast up to this point, but also feels like I have been in Boulder forever. Odd feeling to be certain…stay tuned!
I want to take this area of the blog to thank everybody and anybody who have helped us get to this point. It includes parents, family, friends, community, product researchers, connection-makers, mentors, Techstars staff, and all around general do-gooders. We could not do this without you all.
