Following a weekend where Alaska experienced a 7.1 magnitude earthquake, reports confirm that former Anchorage mayor, Dan Sullivan along with various lawmakers in Hawaii, are seeking to pass legislation to create the first official state lottery games. Advocates in Alaska and Hawaii have argued that the lotteries would provide many statewide benefits, such as reducing state deficits and improving educational facilities.
