The #JacksonFamily is a large family of skaters wearing Jackson product. Whether it be Matrix Blades, Ultima Blades, Jackson Skates or GAM Skates, skaters are encouraged to tag #JacksonFamily in their social posts and be a part of the largest skating family, from recreational to elite! Innovation, Development and most importantly FUN are the core fundamentals of #JacksonFamily.
In our interview series, we go behind the scenes and talk with some of our skaters to get to know them a little bit better!
Today’s interview features Adam Rippon, 2016 US National Champion. He is currently on tour with Stars On Ice.
Adam, thanks for taking the time to do this! Tell us a little bit about yourself, where you came from, how long you’ve been skating, training grounds, coach etc.
Hi guys! I am from Scranton, PA. I’ve been skating since I was 10 years old. I currently live in Los Angeles, CA and train with Rafael Arutyunyan at The Rinks — Lakewood ICE.
I think first and foremost, we gotta ask about the Rippon Lutz! Is it crazy to see kids competing with it and your name attached to an element?
Yes, it’s totally crazy! I can’t believe all the young kids doing it in competition now. It’s pretty unbelievable to have an element variation named after me.
For all who don’t know, here is said Rippon Lutz:
The SOI Tour seems like a lot of work! In your spare time, what are your hobbies outside of skating?
Is it a hobby to be on social media all the time?! I love being on Twitter and interacting with different people. Also, I very dangerously love to go shopping online!
Quickly take us through a typical competition day for you:
- Wake up
- Kick Ass
- Take Names
Well said Adam, well said. What can we look forward to in 2017–18?
I’m just looking forward to being healthy and skating again. I am very grateful to be in the ice again after breaking my foot. Thank you everyone for all the well wishes and support!
Adam’s Equipment: Jackson Elite Supreme Boots
