Twitter, at the heart of it, is a social platform designed for socialising. I have spoken before about how important it is to have a content strategy, and Twitter is no different. BY defining clear, concise actions that are tied to your business goals, you will build a community that is engaging, responsive and compelled by your brand.

Twitter lists are immensely powerful, yet they remain underutilised!. List’s provide the chance to have tailored influencers & industry experts who are relevant to your industry. You can use your lists to monitor conversations and engage with your users which will lead to more followers and brands.

USE CHATS

Being involved in a Twitter chat provides you with the opportunity to engage with customers and potential prospects. Chats are a great opportunity to connect with like-minded businesses to help generate content for your business. I’ve connected with lots of people through these and they are a great way to increase your exposure and reach.

MEASURE YOUR REACH!

It’s important to track your metrics to allow you to get a feel for what is working, and what isn’t in your social media campaigns. You can track directly through Twitter analytics or the plethora of third party tools out there, such as Buffer. I feel that Buffer offers the best package.

Measuring your metrics allows you can get a picture of which posts are working, and which need to be tweaked. It’s important to not become obsessed with analytics as you could tweak things too much, but by keeping them in your mind you can ensure your posts are going to hit the mark, every time, all the time.

CONNECT WITH YOUR AUDIENCE

This might sound obvious, but whenever you get a notification such as a follow or even better, a reply to your tweet make sure you reply to them. Be sure to engage the user and refrain from being a robot. By responding in a friendly, engaging way you give the impression you care.
