Imagination practice…
I am in the highly creative field of contemporary circus arts. I am constantly creating new material, especially inside of my company, Island Circus Space. My co-founders are the fastest creative people I have ever worked with; ideas at a rapid pace. Sometimes, I struggle to keep up. Which has been awesome. I have been definitely operating at much higher imaginative frequencies; not only in making artistic work, but also in building a business.
I find myself at such a fascinating juncture in my career. As Chief Hustler, I am constantly meeting with people. Recently, I met with a very swanky hotel to pitch their sales team.
One of the things that we offer are doing original creations tailored specifically for a conference, event, etc. The unique selling feature is that it will only ever be performed once. It will be remembered a long time, which means the message of the conference will be remembered, which to me is a very high ROI.
It is forcing me to come up with so much material. I can’t rely on just my one hour show. I have to be constantly making interesting work that satisfies clients who are paying significant money.
I love it. It is really pushing my creative limits: physically, mentally, emotionally.
It is vital to practice imagination as it so rarely gets the attention it deserves. It is what leads to becoming an idea generator and an innovation machine. I am honored to have the ability to be using my full being in the process. It is deeply fulfilling.
