I think a fairer comparison between Bokeh and Orca plotting speeds would be to reuse the web browser in both cases. How to do that with Bokeh probably should be documented more prominently, but Bokeh creating a new web browser for each plot is just a convenient default — you can instead call create_webdriver() yourself and pass the same resulting webdriver in to each saving command. That way you only have to start the browser once, just as with Orca.
