Great article. I’d be interested in your thoughts on Keurig’s self-described “Open Source” strategy. Unlike other pod coffee makers (e.g. Nespresso), Keurig has partnerships with a wide variety of coffee brands … not just their house brand. This isn’t really open-source (partner brands are limited and pay to play in the Keurig ecosystem). Nonetheless, it seems like this multi-brand strategy was important to Keurig in becoming the market leader in a tough competitive space (Nespresso, Flavia, Verismo …).
