What We Talk About When We Talk About The AR15

“ For hunting, the AR15 is overkill, like driving a NASCAR to the grocery store. It gets the job done, but it’s expensive, inefficient, and a lot of wasted potential.”

The AR-15 is exceptionally well suited for hunting and is in fact the best selling hunting rifle currently on the market. One glaring omission from you article is the variety of calibers and cartridges the AR-15 is available in, many not only suitable for light and medium game hunting but designed specifically for that purpose. That STANAG (Standard Agreement) magazines can fit many cartridges within the 2.26" COAL limit up to the .50 Cal Beowulf with only sight modifications and some like .300 Blackout require no modification at all. Light weight, highly adaptable, comfortable, durable, serviceable, and with enormous aftermarket support makes the AR-type platform one of the most capable and efficient sporting long guns available. Name any other system that can, with only two pins and a couple of minutes, go from varmint hunting to a precision target gun or to a rifle capable of taking down almost any large or dangerous game animal in North America.
