AGREEMENT & GROWTH

It is okay to disagree, but how can I do that and still have a positive outlook?

In the last two days, I have received information regarding a neighbor. He’s been sick, and in the hospital. But he’s getting better and stronger, and coming home soon. In the context of sending (and responding to) the initial communication, many people have expressed support for the neighbor and his family.

I want to respond appropriately, too. I want to be supportive and helpful. I certainly want to continue to receive the updates. I want to be included in plans that might provide very real help in the difficult days ahead.

But I do not want to communicate personal opinion about health-related concerns, or to share philosophy about recovery methods. I am trying really hard to just listen and learn and grow. It’s about respect; respecting others and respecting myself.

“We find comfort among those who agree with us — growth among those who don’t.” Frank A. Clark
