Castles in the Air

Shapes in the clouds; castles in the air

I think it’s okay to pretend — as long as I know that’s what I’m doing. It gets a little scary when I forget what is imagination, and what is all-too-real. Escape is fine — read a book; listen to music; color a page in the coloring book; tap-dance; drum. It’s all good.

Sooner or later I have to get real. There’s laundry to do. There’s supper to cook — or to warm up! There’s coffee to make. And my hour of exercise is very real indeed; very.

The sky is full of clouds — all kinds, all colors, all sizes. Sometimes, I can see shapes in the clouds. I imagine that there are cars, animals, houses — even castles — in the clouds. Imagination is a wonderful thing to have; imagining / imaging is the beginning of planning. Planning is the beginning of doing. I need to have a little bit of all — the vision, the plan, the accomplishment.

“Do not worry if you have built your castles in the air. They are where they should be. Now put foundations under them.” Henry David Thoreau
