FLOWER FACES

Summertime walks mean flower beds and planters — all abloom!

I am enjoying even short walks on these hot summer days. The trees are beautiful, of course — all green and shiny. And the flowers! The colors are amazing — yellow and purple and pink, oh my!

There are bright yellow sunflowers with red-brown centers; you can’t create these colors on a palette. They just are! And the beautiful pink lilies — like women in old-fashioned full skirts, all dressed up for an afternoon stroll.

I think that the deep purple violets are my favorites — they always remind me of a “Prince” tribute! The blossoms are small, but when they bloom solid in a flower bed — they grab my attention and my heart every time! They look like little faces, smiling just for me.

“Big doesn’t necessarily mean better. Sunflowers aren’t better than violets.” Edna Ferber
