I can learn from the past, but I cannot change the past. Focus on the Future!
It is easy to look back, to remember some of the water under the bridge. Sometimes it is possible to learn from past experiences, and especially from past mistakes. We all have them. There is no shame in that fact. That’s the way life is. But then what? What do we do with what we have learned?
The Swiss cheese was too mild to enhance the flavor of the steamed broccoli. The butter helped; so did the salt. But a more powerful cheese would carry the dish without more fat and more salt — which we do not need!
I got to the back door of the egg farm at the agreed-upon time. No one came in answer to my several loud raps. I walked around the yard, knocked again, waited again. A frisky dog came through the cat door on the porch and wanted to play! By now, I needed a bathroom! Finally, the egg woman came to the porch and I left with 1 1/2 dozen farm-fresh eggs. When am I gonna learn to always bring my cell phone — just in case?!?
There is no use to re-plow either of these fields — or any of the other learning experiences of today and yesterday. Focus on the Future, and do better tomorrow — and next week and next year!
