HAPPINESS IS . . . .

It’s probably different for everyone; but happiness is as real as skin.

He asked me what made me happy. I didn’t hesitate. Dancing and drumming, I said. I have time, enough time. I can dance and drum every day — if I want to. And I do want to. So why don’t I?

Sleep to get. Books to read. E-mail to check. Bike to ride. Walk to take. Food to buy, food to cook, dishes to do. Laundry to do. Pilates and yoga and intervals and barre classes to complete. The Olympics to watch — pretty excited over women’s gymnastics and men’s swimming so far. Meteors to look for. Actually these things all make me happy — -in different ways.

Heard an on-line recording of Jimi Hendrix, Billy Cox, Buddy Miles — Band of Gypsys performing “Power of Soul” recorded live at Fillmore East. Read that there will be a documentary of the performance out as a DVD. Now that really made me happy! Thank you, Rolling Stone.

Maybe tomorrow; maybe dancing and drumming tomorrow.
