Day 30: 2 for 2uesday
Calendar Apps
I have a thing for tech that is simple, beautiful, and works every time. Now, the first time I did this was for email apps — I know…zzzz. This time, I’m featuring another couple non-sexy, works every time (which is kinda sexy), apps that focus on something that comes baked into every mobile device: a calendar.
The stock calendar app is one native app that is clearly better on iOS than it is on Android (full disclosure — it has been forever since I used the native calendar app on my phone, so I can only speak to the native app on my Nexus 5 from a year ago) so I began my search to replace my native calendar app with another one. I landed on these two and settled on the latter.
Cal
I discovered this one after I had been using Any.Do.

If you’re looking for an app that is great looking and easy to use you can’t go wrong here. I just asked my wife what she liked the best about it (and she is PICKY about the apps she uses) and she just said “I don’t know…it’s just easy. It’s simple”. But don’t let its simplicity fool you into thinking that it isn’t robust, its got some nice tools and if you’re a to do list junkie, the Any.Do app integrates smoothly into it making sure you don’t miss a thing. Sunrise Calendar
Ok, I’m a sucker for a great looking app, but this is one that works as great as it looks.

It has all the main features that most Calendar apps do, but the user interface is just so attractive that I can’t help but smile when I use this app to see what lies ahead for me that day, week, or month. It integrates with other apps like Evernote and Trello which are tools that I love, a real plus and the reason why I use it today. Check out this great review from the Verge on Sunrise Calendar.
So there you have my take on a couple calendar apps. There are plenty out there, but I needed something that was easy and worked. Which calendar app do you use?
