Add <audio> to your Map Journal

Hi Owen,

Thanks for this! I have an audio file but I guess from this it has to have a url to link to? I have dropped it into Box and made it accessible to anyone who has the link, copied the url into the code in the section of my story map journal I want it to appear in (it’s a sound file of street kids playing table football and relates to a picture on the main stage), the audio image appears for a few seconds and then disappears… The code I pasted is:

<audio controls>
 <source src=” https://uod.box.com/s/m2uv29wp2pcbthiivulu64jjmwy00nw6" type=”audio/mpeg”>
 Your browser does not support the audio tag.
 </audio>

I note in the blog that the mp3 file’s URL is the story map itself:

<audio controls>
 <source src=”http://storymaps.esri.com/stories/2013/endangered-languages/data/media/15_Sec_Audio/Garifuna/Lovell_short.mp3" type=”audio/mpeg”>
 Your browser does not support the audio tag.
 </audio>

Whereas mine is to the Box as there is no option for uploading audio…

I wonder if you can point out to me where I am going wrong — any help most appreciated.

I was hoping this might be the solution; other than that I have to turn my image into a video and merge it with the audio — not a problem except I don’t have access to a programme which can do that.

To avoid this problem, for future releases will you be adding an option to insert audio as you have for videos and photos?
