The Olympics Cost Cities Dearly And Rio Is No Exception

I’m really hoping that LA doesn’t win the 2024 bid after reading this. It seems like the biggest bamboozle especially as you outline that broadcast rights and tourism don’t help the host city’s economy. I just saw an article about how the Rio venues were made of materials that they can repurpose to make schools and other more functional spaces and it sounded so reasonable! But your point about the cost of that construction was missing from that piece, and that’s critical information. Great analysis as always, Bryce.
