Repost: My Plan to Improve Japanese English Education
The Japanese really like English. You know some English words written in a Japanese song. The Japanese often drop the English education into the conversation. However, It is not considered that the Japanese speak English well.
These reasons can be considered the cause.
1.The English class does not adopt.
Most of the English classes in Japan are teaching memorising words and grammar. The students seldom write essays. It is not considered that the students can use English in the real world, and actually, they cannot.
2. Many Japanese do not have to use English
The Japanese can work without using English. Japan is the one of the biggest countries from an economic standpoint. This is presumably why most of the Japanese’s opinion is that they do not feel much zeal for English.
In my opinion, the people who learn another language should be more pragmatic. They have to use English in the real world: Write an understandable essay by using logical mechanics, remarking well-chosen words, present their own opinion or what they want to send out to anyone, read other people’s opinion.
By using another language you will be able to use it well. Moreover, by using the other language, the ability of the mother language also will be trained. By writing in another language, you will be more careful about the structure and words than your mother language.
Many Japanese can work in Japan without speaking English. So it is natural that most of the Japanese does not speak English well. But it is sure that using English well help build a career.
For this reason, I conclude that English education in Japan should be more pragmatic and respond for people who are not interested in studying English, and help them improve their Japanese by writing and reading English in the real world.
