Completely agree with you about how campaigns use social media and pop culture to gain supporters. People are attracted to those they can relate to, so if a politician can “act hip” and understand what young people like, they have a better chance of gaining a vote. People want to see a potential leader who is in tune with trends, except for when we don’t want to see them “hit the dab” or encourage us to “Pokemon Go to the polls.”
