Set Personal Values for Yourself
Company values are common, and they help people in the company stick together and rally around a few goals and aspirations. Many will hang them around the office or have them proudly displayed on their website.
But why stop at company-wide values?
How about personal values too? To be able to check how you’re doing in life, I think it’s important to check you’re following your goals and aspirations.
- Are you doing the right things to get where you wanna go?
- Are you acting the way you want, and is that the person you see in the future?
- Have you done everything in your power today to meet your personal values?
Often, you’ll hit the goals. But sometimes you don’t, and that’s a big problem.
It means you’re not holding yourself to a high enough standard. Today, you weren’t the person you wanted to be, and while you think it may change tomorrow you should know that you need to correct course.
But these goals are not just for when things go wrong. They’re there to let you know when things are going right, too. You just need some rules to live by.
Today I set myself some personal goals, and I think they’ll help me stay on track—to help me become the person I want to be in the future. If you feel like you need some rules to live by too, you should give setting some personal values a go too.
I’m writing about something that interests me every day for a year. This is day 29 of 365. ✌️
